Don’t Talk About Ex’s – Ever!

Yes … I know – your ex-wife made your life hell.  She got the house, the kids, the dog and just about everything else.  But don’t bad mouth her to your new girlfriend – it demonstrates you respect women.  To confuse things though, the opposite is not true.  If you have close female friends including your ex’s, it is a good idea not to mention them that much. What a Russian woman does not want to hear is how much you enjoy spending with other women other than her.

Your best bet is to avoid the topic all together.  If she asks you in your first couple of emails, then give a simple and straightforward reply.  You could use “I enjoy spending time with my friends and family” or “I have a beautiful child from my previous marriage – family is very important to me”.  Highlight the positives, not the ugly history.

How Many Men Is She Talking To?

A Russian dating site is a forum for men and women to get to know each other.  Look at the members who have joined – how many women are you attracted to?  10? 20?  I am going to guess it is more than 1.

Now stop and think what it is like for the woman you are writing to.  If you send an email to at least 10 women you are interested in, then she is likely to have her email inbox filled with atleast 10 more emails from men just like you.  You may be the perfect match for her, but she will make an effort to get to know all the men who writer to her.  She will cull those from her contact list she does not feel a connection with until she is left with one person to get to know in more detail – you.

Cash is still heavily used inRussia.   Even the concept of borrowing money to buy a house or apartment has only become mainstream in the last 3 or 4 years.  Previously they bought their homes with cash.  So the idea of using credit to buy everything is completely foreign to her.  Your new girlfriend was brought up with a mindset that ‘expensive’ meant that you would never be able to pay cash for it.  Tell her that flights are expensive and she will think you are not going to visit her and not serious about a relationship.

The key here is avoid saying something is expensive.  If you have to save for a couple of months before you could afford to go, simply say you have other obligations until you are ready.
